Building Booking Fees

Please note that this Front Porch Booking Request Form is for booking the front porch of the Abdul Ladha Science Student Centre only.

*All bookings must be made at least 2-3 weeks in advance.

Front Porch Booking Guidelines

#1. Late Penalty Fees are enforced if a club does not show up within an hour at the beginning of the booked time and has not informed the building manager prior to their event. For the first infraction, the club will be subjected to charges beginning at $10/hour, charged at the beginning of the booked time to arrival. If there is a the second infraction, the club will be subjected to paying an additional $10/hour for every hour of their booking.

#2. Equipment will not be rented out to students hosting events outside of Ladha under any circumstances. All building furniture or equipment are to remain within the building unless given permission from the building manager.

“Science Clubs” are normally departmental clubs, student associations, or societies representing the departments within the Faculty of Science. Non-departmental clubs apply to become a “Science Club” and are approved by the Building Management Commission (or the Code and Policy Committee). This category is the most specific and strict, in terms of which organizations can qualify. 

"Science Students’ Interest" (UBC Organization) applies to a broader range of AMS clubs and UBC organizations that are related to the field of science, or that serve students in the Faculty of Science. As the Abdul Ladha Science Student Centre was paid for by the Faculty of Science and UBC Science students, the building primarily serves the Science Undergraduate Society, Science Departmental Clubs, and Science students of UBC.

Payment Due Dates:  Payment is due by the deadlines as indicated in the email from the Assistant Building Manager. In the case that the Balance Due is not paid on time, your organization's "standing" to book the ALSSC will be affected. No additional bookings can be made if fees are still outstanding. The Building Management Commission reserves the right to cancel future events if outstanding fees are unpaid.

Payment Method:  Alma Mater Society (AMS) clubs and constituencies can make booking fee payments via Journal Vouchers. AMS journal vouchers are to be made payable to the Science Undergraduate Society of UBC (Account Number: 474-5028-06). Payment by cheque is also acceptable, which can be made payable to the Science Undergraduate Society of UBC.

Cancellations: You must inform the Assistant Building Manager via email ASAP (at least 1 week prior to your event) if you cancel your booking. Otherwise, your organization's "standing" to book the ALSSC will be affected. No exceptions.
